HLB leads social responsibility management by joining UNGC

HLB has joined the UN Global Compact (UNGC) to strengthen social responsibility and promote sustainable development of companies.

The UNGC is the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative involving 19,000 companies and institutions from 163 countries around the world, designating 10 principles such as human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption as core values.

HLB announced on the 16th that it held a ceremony to join UNGC.

Kim Dong-gun, CEO of HLB, said, "Our corporate ideology to realize humanity's dream of better life and extension of life through the development of new global anticancer drugs is in line with UNGC's core values."

The importance of the healthcare industry is growing day by day as a key element of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the development of new drugs, said Kwon Chun-taek, Secretary-General of UNGC.

HLB established an ESG management team in April last year and is steadily establishing an ESG management system through revision of board regulations and articles of association. On its website, it recently released concrete measures to improve governance and manage ESG in the social ethics sector, including establishing anti-corruption management policies, declaring top 10 human rights policies, and establishing corporate governance charter.
